General Discussion / IT'S DONE!
« on: May 15, 2018, 11:23:05 AM »
I've officially finished and submitted my dissertation for binding! The official title is:

Video Games: The Healing Potion That Crosses Realms
Exploring Motivational, Emotional, Social, and Cognitive Benefits of Video Game Play to Inform Therapeutic Practice

I attached the front pages so people can read the abstract and see the chapter titles (pay special attention to page 5 ;) ). If anyone is truly interested in reading it, I can e-mail you a copy. <3

General Discussion / Creative help?!?!!
« on: January 03, 2018, 10:51:36 AM »
As many of you know, I'm writing my dissertation (the last thing I need to complete my doctorate) on the benefits of video game play. My chair wants me to come up with a clever/creative title that gives a nod to the gaming community... and I'm not the most creative person. Help!!

A little more info...
The "academic" boring title is: "Exploring motivational, cognitive, social, and emotional benefits of video game play to inform therapeutic practice" which sums up exactly what I'm writing about.

Hunter came up with my favorite so far: "Video games as real-life healing potions"

Some others we thought of:
"Gaming for help"
"For the fun of therapy"
"Healing healers... and tanks and damage dealers"
"Video Games: The healing potion that crosses all realms"

Show me your creative titles, or give one of the ones above your blessing?! Thanks! <3

Hi Ben!

Thanks for the application. You sound like a well established player with a lot of previous experience. We take a lighter approach to raiding, as we all have lives outside of WoW that sometimes interfere with our ability to attend every raid. That being said, we almost always get heroic content to farm level, but have a difficult time with attendance for mythic progression. We also are not the fastest guild to clear heroic content, but certainly not the slowest either- it is just sometimes a longer process for us. With your previous experience being a mythic raider, do you foresee it being an issue for you to be in an environment that isn't focused on mythic progression?

Looking forward to your response!

This is a beautiful reflection of your friendship with Bill. A friend like that, no matter how you met, will always have a special place in your heart. Although he was only with our guild a fraction of the time you knew him, I'm glad you convinced him to apply and raid with us. He will certainly be missed.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your interest! You can find our application thread on the left-hand side of the home page under recruitment. Look forward to seeing your application :)

If you need help locating the application thread you can find myself in-game on Kelinnaa or Clypssaa, or another member of the guild by searching /who we have jobs too.

It sounds like you have the right mindset to fit in with our group, and it sounds like our raid times fit perfect with the time you're usually playing. Stay tuned for word from management!

Hi Zachary,

Thanks for the app! So if I'm reading through your application correctly, you have never raided before? Not even looking for raid? Also, you've gone all this time solo, what made you want to change direction and join a guild and begin raiding? There's no right or wrong answer, just trying to get a better idea of what you're looking for in a guild to make sure we are the best fit for you :)

Currently we are 7/7 heroic EN and most of us around 870 ilvl, so there might be some catch up to do before you raid with us, but we're happy to help you through that process. Looking forward to your response, also stay tuned for word from management.

Good luck :)
